Reception finished in natural oak with burr walnut panels A stunning minimalist design in brilliant white Avonite and smoked glass, the clean lines are followed through into the glass partitioned office by the use of a matching desk giving the appearance of a single unit. When the Westfield Stratford City shopping centre opened, LE-AL had the opportunity to design and build two reception desks. One was for the executive floor to greet retail owners and buyers and the other was for the main lobby area in the shopping centre itself. Each reception was designed to follow Westfield Stratford City’s symbol of East London’s rejuvenation using simple but contemporary ideas that were user friendly to staff and visitors. The executive floor Reception features a Walnut main body with a clear coated polished finish, making the grain itself stand out as a beautiful detail. The lower area of the reception is DDA compliant and the contrasting white adds to the clean, streamlined overall look. The reception features a frosted glass top as well as a laser cut stainless steel logo. The main lobby reception is for the public to use as a baggage drop off point. With this in mind it needed to be extremely durable and cope with the many bags that get handed over daily. Acrovyn, heavily used in hospitals and schools, was a new material for us to use but was exactly what was required. Durability was key, but the overall look was important to maintain the clean look our client required. As with the walnut reception, stainless steel was used again as the contrasting detail, mirroring the design of the wall behind.
